Hydration reminders in Reset: what they do

Understand Reset's optional hydration prompts, why some check-ins are skipped and why reminders do not measure intake or prescribe a fluid target.

Reset offers optional hydration reminders during an active session. They are prompts to pay attention, not a measurement of your intake or a personalised instruction about how much to drink.

The app does not record cups, calculate fluid balance or assess dehydration.

How prompts are scheduled

Reset considers a hydration check-in at two hours, then at three-hour intervals after that, when the option is enabled. To avoid a cluster of messages, nearby coaching prompts can be omitted when they would fall within 45 minutes of an already scheduled event.

Stage and completion events take priority in that scheduling logic. You should therefore not expect every theoretical three-hour check-in to generate a separate notification.

Understand the shared notification channel

Hydration and encouragement use the “Check-ins and hydration” channel. Muting that Android channel can silence both kinds of prompts.

Stage notifications and the final completion notification use other channels. If you only want to change one kind of reminder, inspect the app’s preferences and Android’s channel controls rather than turning off everything by accident.

See the reminder checklist for the wider settings.

A prompt is not a drinking prescription

Different people have different fluid requirements and medical instructions. A generic reminder cannot account for a prescribed fluid restriction or another care plan. Follow your clinician’s instructions rather than treating an app prompt as a required amount.

The reminder also cannot tell whether you already drank something or whether a beverage fits the timing convention you are recording.

Keep the feature optional

If check-ins are distracting, change the relevant preference. Your actual session times remain the basis of the log whether reminders are enabled or not.

If you need a detailed fluid diary for medical or personal reasons, Reset’s prompts do not replace one. Ask what information is needed and choose a suitable recording method. For common questions about drinks and timing, read what breaks a fast, keeping clinical or procedural instructions separate from general habit tracking.
