Ending a fast before the target: how to record it

Keep a truthful record when a fast ends early, understand target completion and avoid stretching the next session to compensate for an app goal.

You can end a fasting session before its target. Record the actual end time. A countdown is a chosen plan, not an instruction to keep going or a reason to ignore how you feel.

This guide explains the record in Reset, not a medical decision about when to eat.

Keep the shorter session

Suppose you selected 14 hours and the interval ends after 12 hours and 20 minutes. That is still a completed record of a real interval.

Ending the timer early does not mean the history should disappear. It means the actual duration differs from the intended one. Both pieces of information can be useful later.

Read completion correctly

Reset compares actual duration with the target stored on that session. An early finish does not meet that target, so it may reduce the completion percentage or interrupt a target-based streak.

These are calculations about the app’s records. They are not a clinical assessment, a judgment about willpower or evidence that the day was unhealthy.

Do not rewrite the plan just to protect a score

Reset 1.1.0 preserves the target when editing an existing session’s times. Keep the actual times truthful even if the original target was selected by mistake. Changing the times to make an entry appear complete would remove the distinction between what you planned and what happened.

There is also no need to extend the next interval to compensate. A timer does not create a balance of hours owed.

Put wellbeing before the display

If you feel unwell, stop treating the app as a decision maker and seek appropriate medical advice. Serious symptoms need urgent attention. Follow any established care instructions about food, fluids or medication.

For non-medical changes such as an earlier shared meal, simply record the real finish and continue with your day. Read tracking without streak pressure if app goals are becoming distracting. The completion-rate guide shows how the number is calculated and why it should remain in context.
