Fasting with a 9-to-5 job: plan around real breaks

Map a fasting timetable around commuting, lunch breaks and shared dinners, with a worked office-day example and practical tracking tips.

A workday timetable is only useful if it includes real opportunities to eat. Before choosing a fasting window, mark your commute, available meal breaks and dinner time. The gap between calendar events is not always a usable break.

Start with the fixed lunch break

Suppose lunch is available at noon and dinner normally ends at 7:30 pm. A planned eating window from noon to 8 pm would accommodate both, but only if breakfast and other requirements do not make that unsuitable.

If your actual last intake is 7:30 pm, a 16-hour timer ends at 11:30 am the next day. Noon is your available meal time, not the mathematical endpoint. Keeping those two facts separate avoids confusion about the countdown.

This is a logistical example, not a recommendation to delay breakfast. Review the beginner planning checklist and obtain clinical advice before changing your eating routine.

Check the difficult day, not just the ordinary one

A weekly timetable should account for a morning meeting, a late commute or a lunch break that sometimes moves. Ask whether meals would remain practical when one of those events occurs.

If the schedule only works on a perfectly quiet day, it may be too fragile for your job. Do not compensate for a missed plan by automatically extending the next fast.

Keep reminders discreet

Reset’s notifications can be managed through its controls and Android’s notification settings. You can decide whether a completion alert is useful during meetings. An alert is a timing reminder, not a requirement to keep fasting until it arrives.

See the notification guide for the difference between app preferences and Android permissions.

Review the week honestly

Record actual starts and finishes, including days that depart from the plan. When comparing workdays with weekends, keep the selected history period consistent.

Useful observations are concrete: “Late commuting days moved dinner by an hour” tells you more than a completion score alone. Reset records timing; it does not include a work-calendar integration or interpret your job schedule automatically.
