No fasting timer can tell you exactly when autophagy starts or how much is occurring in your body. Reset has no biological sensor or laboratory input. Its timeline is educational information associated with elapsed time, not a measurement.
What the research actually measures
Autophagy concerns cellular breakdown and recycling processes. A 2025 exploratory human study in The Journal of Physiology measured autophagic flux in particular blood cells during a six-month intervention.
The researchers observed a difference between intermittent time-restricted eating and standard care at six months. They did not find a significant within-group increase from baseline in the intervention group, and they reported important limits to interpretation.
These findings do not identify a universal hour at which a process switches on across the whole body. Measurements from one cell population and a long-term intervention cannot be turned into an individual countdown.
Why an exact-hour claim is misleading
A timer knows the start you entered and the time now. It does not know the relevant tissue measurements, the accuracy of the food history or all the individual conditions a study might control.
Even a more detailed app profile would not turn an estimated stage into a direct measurement. A label appearing at a particular hour describes the app’s presentation, not a confirmed event inside you.
Read Reset’s evidence labels as context
The app uses well established, emerging and preliminary labels to distinguish the strength of general evidence. They are not personal probabilities, and a more confident label does not mean a sensor verified the stage.
Our editorial approach explains that separation. We do not use the name Reset to promise a metabolic reset, detoxification or a measured cellular outcome.
Do not lengthen a fast to chase a label
An educational milestone is not an instruction to extend the interval. Fasting suitability and risks need individual assessment, especially with health conditions or medication.
If your goal is simply to keep an accurate timing record, focus on the actual start and end. If your question is about a health effect, bring it to a qualified clinician rather than relying on the counter. This article has not been medically reviewed.
